My Virtual Pro and the Power Cut

I’ll let you in on a little secret – I love Fifa10! Ok, ok, that’s not really much of a secret.. Ok then here’s another one, While I absolutely love Fifa10, I am pretty damn crap at it. Today I played with my Virtual Pro, Playing as Lowly division 2 side Macclesfield against Chesterfield – I played them twice.. The first time, I think I was drawing the game, my VP was having an unbelievably good game (translation = I was really getting to grips with some fancy skills and flicks) until about the 82nd minute, when inexplicably he gets a rush of confidence and decides to shoot from an angle from about a mile away. 19 times out of 20, the ball wouldn’t even trouble the keeper. Not only was this ball on target, it was a screamer, and I knew when I hit it, it was gonna be good.. It was going in, no doubt in my mind, It would have been my best goal of Fifa10 since I purchased the game, and I guess it would certainly unlock another achievement for my Virtual Pro… But.. Just before that ball crossed the line… BAM! Total Silence, Total Darkness, Totally no power whatsoever!! WTF!! NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

This was around 7pm, or just after, the sun was going down, and it was pretty dark already. Power was later restored about 11.30pm.. Some 4 and a half hours later.. 4 and a half hours of waiting around (some of it in total darkness, some of it outside), no air conditioner, worried about food in the fridge, worried that if not back on tonight, then I wouldn’t be sleeping – meaning I wouldn’t be working tomorrow – cannot have that, big big boss is in town too.. It seems to cap off an unbelievably week of bad luck for me (I won’t go into all the other shit).

Anyway, There I was 11.30 sipping at some water sat in a chair looking out into the night sky on the balcony (nothing else to do), and BAM! just like that the lights came back up, the Air con started up, and everything was right with the world again, Fab.

After checking all the electrics and what not, I fired up Fifa10 once again, and played Chesterfield (again!), this time, I lost, I was getting worse at this game, but at the same time I was getting better, the skill I commanded of my Virtual Pro was fantastic, he was having a blinder, shame about the other players really. Anyway, I knew I would never repeat that goal that almost was again, but I did have some nice moments in the game. Not all of them I captured, but I caught one moment for you here. I hope you like…
