Here’s an example of what applying HDR to an Image can do alongside a good filter in Lightroom 2.

The image on the left is the original photo taken with Canon 450D in Raw. Then in Lightroom I made 2 clones and changed the exposures in both clones (one lower and one higher), then Imported the image into Photomatix and accepted the default tone mapped image. Back into Lightroom I experimented with different developer filters until I found the one that looked most suitable.. The final image on the right is the end result, and I have to say, this is my favourite image that I took in 2009.

Hello,

This week has been a week of sleepless nights, pain and just a horrid time all round following two root canal treatments done on my teeth. Finally, the pain is now starting to subside, it’s still there, don’t get me wrong, but it’s nowhere near as bad as it was earlier this week. Despite the lingering pain, I managed to get a few hours sleep last night, and I was definitely due some anyway.

For too long a time, I’ve been really struggling to get new inspiration for my photography. I’ve been ‘stuck in a rut’ really, trying to think of new ideas, new challenges and new places to visit to take photographs, however, it’s really been a case of ‘Can’t think of anything’, ‘Can’t be bothered going anywhere’, ‘Can’t be arsed setting up my camera’, etc, etc.

That is, until today. I decide that I will take my camera with me, and visit KL today, I’ll take all my lens – I had no idea what I was going to photograph, but I promised myself to ‘Open my eyes’ once I got there, and not to take the same ol’ shit that everyone takes. I promised myself to try new things, try some experimenting, and perhaps rip up the ‘rule book’ on photography and take what comes to mind.

Anyway, I recently got back, (I used the time there to do some shopping too), and I’ve uploaded my photo’s into Lightroom, I’ve gone through 2 passes already looking at sharpness (when I wanted it to be sharp) and composition, then rejected photo’s along the way. Now I have 30 final photo’s that I’m happy with – I’ve tagged them already, now it’s time to decide which one’s to publish, and do some final editing in the Develop module. For now, here’s 3 photo’s playing around with the aperture setting in my camera – and combined them (using the print module) into 1 image. I hope you like.
